Buckle up. We are going on a trip to an undetermined destination, and all we know is that we want to escape our current routine which is the reality. All we should do is just drive, or ride this bus/train to goodness knows-where. Life has become suffocating, our head is in many places, and we just want to get away.
Unfortunately, as tempting as the whole indie movie situation sounds like, it is even more impossible for individuals to just pick up and hit pause. Allen could go on vacation with his buddies in Mexico for a few days, but he will still need to solve the issues with the company buyers. Maria can take a day or two off from work to reset and go hiking, but she still needs to work on that presentation although public speaking is probably her greatest fear. Escaping is necessary for individuals to step back and take a break, but just like a bag of Lays chips, they always expire. Once the vacation is back, reality awaits us to pickup after we left off. Reality is really just the home destination, vacation is 20 stops away so you can actually feel as though you are taking a break from your home.
Just as how traveling to our ultimate destinations for vacation, we have bus or train stops as our drop off point. The train will make multiple stops to drop off each passenger. Some stops are longer than others. Maybe there was a delay, service disruption, weather hazard, or a technical error that prevented the train from moving forward to the next stop. That puts us, as the passenger, impatient to just move on, so we can get going and be closer to our destination. However, that’s not all, some factors of the trip are going to annoy or infuriate you as the passenger.
You could be experiencing loud noise, a loud conductor, troublemaking passengers, you name it during the entire ride. Dealing with these factors is one thing, but unfortunately, they are part of the ride. You have got to hustle through till it is over. However, with every annoying trip or problem, is remembering that it did happen, and the chances of it happening again are possible. But these things did happen.
Eventually, when dealing with the situation however the best you can, whether that means turning up the music louder on your ride, you will have cultivated steps for coping with situations as such, as well as the waiting game during the trip. When you do reach your destination, you will feel like a different person, maybe even grateful for the whole thing and overall grateful for the experience. Because just like traveling during delays, technical errors and more, life is like a trip with annoying passengers and conductors.
While the next chapter of life is somewhere most people want to be, it is the journey that prepare them for that next chapter of life. The goal can motivate you, but the journey will build you. So, if you are going on any trips literally and metaphorically, per some forms of transportation, listen to some groovy beats and enjoy the ride.
